Photos of My Quilts

Quilt #1I made this small quilt (crib size) to practice free motion quilting. I
used every floral fabric I had at the time.

Quilt #2I designed , made, and quilted this wall-hanging myself for a contest.
The contest had a choice of themes—hats or baskets—and challenging
fabric (it's the light pink with flowers surrounding the large middle
patch). I had fun shopping for fabric that had hats, and fun teaching
myself new techniques. Thanks to Anne Papworth for providing some of
the hat fabrics.

On this topsy-turvey, crazy pink planet, everyone wears a hat

Quilt #3A great beginner's class at the The Quilt Block in Sherwood, OR,
taught by Pam McMahon.

Quilt #4This is the Shoo-Fly pattern, so I called this queen-sized quilt "Shoo-
Fish," as I did an oceanic theme. This was started in a class at the The
Quilt Block.

Quilt #5This is the Yellow Brick Road pattern, and I started
this quilt in a class taught by Julie Fugate at The Quilt
Block. It was quilted by Marje Rhine. I haven't titled it
yet.

No title.

Quilt #6This quilt was made for me as a going away gift from my friends at
The Quilt Block. As beautiful as it looks here, it is even more gorgeous
in person! Thanks Ann, Linda, Lynda, Julie, Jenny, Sandy, Denise,
Carol, Brad, and Debi.

Quilt #7I made this quilt in a class taught by the marvelous Lorraine
Torrence. It now hangs in our living room.

Quilt8This is a lap quilt I made for my dad. It actually started many years ago; I decided to teach myself how to quilt, so I started making, with the help of a book, an Irish chain. I was thinking at the time that it would be a gift for my brother. However, I didn't really know what I was doing and I didn't have the right tools. Once I realized my 9-patch blocks weren't measuring equally to one another, I abandoned the project. When I found the pattern "Toddler Time" in Quiltmaker (Sept./Oct. 2001), I realized I could cut up my 9-patches and use them in an altered version of this pattern. After I put it together, I quilted it at The Quilt Block. I had just taken a class in free-motion quilting there with Connie Kaiser, so I practiced on this. It was a Christmas present with a very long history!  Broken Irish Chain

Quilt9I made this twin quilt for my mom for her birthday. She loves birds, so I collected bird fabrics for the squares. The alternating blocks are crazy quilt squares, most of them scraps from other quilts I made or was in the process of making. Then I added strips for borders until it got to the size I wanted. I quilted this, doing different patterns in the squares, which was fun.
